π€ Parent Helpers
We need some helpful hands the duration of the show β with checkin, during the show, and dismissal. Our Parent Helpers play an important role in creating a smooth, calm, and positive show experience. Helpers assist dancers with staying organized, provide reassurance to nervous little ones, and support small needs like washroom trips or quick bandaid moments. Your calm presence helps our dancers feel safe, confident, and cared for throughout the show. Sign up online today to let the Elev8 team know you will be there to help for the show.
π Dancer Check-In
Check-in happens after you enter the theatre.
- Dancers are sitting on-stage through the show.
- Bring your dancer to the stage to find their first spot to sit.
- After finding their spot, dancers return to sit with you in the audience until the 5-minute call.
- At call time, they will move to the stage and sit at their first spot.
- The stage is closed before the show. No running, playing, or practicing onstage.
Important: Dancers in multiple dances need to know where to go for their next dances. Please ensure they know where to go and walk through the process from spot to dance to spot and so on.
π KinderDance
KinderDance students are dismissed at the halfway point. This is a quick pause, not an intermission, to help our youngest dancers connect with a parent or guardian.
πͺ Dismissal
Dancers are dismissed at the end of the show in an orderly fashion through the back stage door exit, at the back of the theatre through the lobby. All other doors are closed once the show begins. Please be patient with the dismissal team.
We aim for all dancers to stay for the duration of the show, but we understand that some families may need to leave.
- Please make all arrangements with your dancer before the show begins.
- Use the backstage exit only (through the lobby, up the ramp β it is clearly labelled).
- Staff are fully focused on the show and are not available to assist with early departures.
Costumes, Hair, and Make-up
- Dancers are welcome to wear holiday hats (e.g., Santa hats) for the winter show. Please ensure hats are pinned or strapped down. Elev8 t-shirt, hoodies, and sweaters, with pyjama bottoms.
- There is (almost) no such thing as too much makeup for the stage. Clear stud earrings are welcome for pictures and on stage. Hair and Makeup is recommended to add professionalism and polish performances. If wearing makeup, please wear only brown eyes, rosy cheeks, and red lips.
- For hair, a mid-high ponytail (crown of the head) is recommended, including for ballet (for the winter showcase). Flyaway hairs are sprayed or gelled down. The ponytail can be curled or braided. For our students with hair too short for a bun or ponytail, please see your teacher.

Snack & Entertainment
Please bring filled water bottles and theatre-approved snacks:
- Water only
- Dry snacks such as granola bars, cereals
- Sliced apple
- Cheese
- Crackers
- Carrots
- Bananas
- Celery
- Grapes
Assume whatever you bring for a snack will be rubbed or spilled on someone’s clothes/costumes.
Please do not bring:
- Things with powder (eg. cheese fish snacks)
- Things that spill (eg. yogurt, pudding)
- Things that stain (eg. strawberries, chocolate)
Bringing some entertainment, such as simple toys, colouring books, or devices, is a good idea. There is a lot of downtime, including the time between the dancer’s arrival and the show’s start. Label everything in case something is left behind.
Have a great show!
